Welcome
Yazmin Cruz is a Los Angeles-based multimedia journalist who graduated cum laude from California State University, Northridge.
She worked at the Ventura County Star from October 2013 to January 2019 as a digital content producer, reporter and editor. She also grew the newspaper's Instagram presence by producing IGTV videos and Insta-stories, along with featuring staff photographs.
After college, she blogged about saving money for BargainBabe.com and helped grow the brands presence on its social media platforms.
While at CSUN she wrote for the Daily Sundial and El Nuevo Sol, the English and Spanish student-run newspapers. Cruz is particularly fond of writing hard news but as her portfolio demonstrates, she is a versatile writer who not only writes about complex subjects in a simple manner that is easily understood by readers, but also enjoys telling people's stories. Being able to speak and write fluently in Spanish gave her an edge when covering the Latino community for El Nuevo Sol for which she not only wrote for but also produced multimedia. She also enjoyed writing about environmental issues and contributed to the Daily Sundial's "The CSUN Footprint" and El Nuevo Sol's "Eco●conscious," which she helped start. Both blogs focused on environmental issues but were for different audiences.
